I went last night and it was awesome. The service and the food were great and the chef did all the tricks that my kids love at Japanese steakhouses such as the volcano, catching zucchini in your mouth, etc. We went early so we had no wait, but I noticed when I left, lots of people were waiting to be seated. It is a little pricey but you get a lot of food with the soup, salad, and main course. We had to get to go boxes.

I was very pleased that they decided to move and expand to include hibachi!! Went there yesterday. Food was very good and service was excellent!

Umi has always had really good service. The sushi is pretty good. Not the best you will ever eat but the best you will find in Starkville. If your in the mood for sushi in Starkville, this is the place to go.

This is a surprisingly good place to get sushi close to home. Some creative rolls along with a lot of well done sushi staples.

Personally the Fancy roll, B52, Alaska roll and of course Tuna almost always find their way on to my plate. They have rarely failed to satisfy.

Umi is a neat experience, but you have to get one of the back rooms that has the pillows and lowered table to really soak it in. The sake is served hot, and the sushi is delicious. The spider roll is fun as well as tasty. Not many dishes look like the enchanted shrimp cocktail in Beetlejuice and taste that good. The spring rolls are a great appetizer as well as the shrimp shumai.

Umi easily has the best sushi in Starkville! The service is always ultra friendly and they have a wide variety of fresh delicious sushi and entrees to choose from. I go there regularly and have yet to be disappointed! Great place!

I've always liked this place, but then I found out there are rooms in the back where you sit on the floor with your shoes off. As soon as I found out I had to try it, and it was great. The room is dimly lit and the table isn't too high or too low. Usually it's hard for me to order though because everything is so great, you can taste the freshness in everything. The seaweed salad, fried calamari salad, and miso soup are all wonderful starters, and the sake is delicious. Of all the rolls I've tried from here the fancy roll is the best, it has fried sweet potato in it and some crab meat too. Other great rolls they have are the Eal and cucumber, spicy snapper, and crunchy roll. Umi is one of my favorite places to eat in Starkville.

Umi is hands down the best sushi in town. They have a wide variety of sushi rolls and I have had a few other menu items and was pleased with it. The lunch special is pretty good and at very reasonable price. The dynamite sauce is really good as well.

Umi has the best sushi in town and good service. They serve all the standard sushi rolls and and sashimi, but also some unique rolls. My favorite roll has sweet potato tempura in it. The best part about Umi is that they are moving to a new space in the Middleton shopping center on Hwy 12 near the Tuesday Morning. This is going to be a BIG improvement in their space, plus an outdoor courtyard AND a hibachi grill. Once they make this transition, Umi will officially be the coolest place in town to take a date.

Umi's is my number 1 choice for sushi in Starkville. Their simple sushi rolls are my favorite, and their edamame is by far the freshest. The small and quaint atmosphere is lovely, although they can get quite busy on some evenings. The service has always been stellar when we visit. I am excited about their move to a larger location next spring!
